Financial concern was to get ARRL insurance paid as quickly as possible and this will be checked with Tom Long who has acquired the club checkbook.
Allen Tinker will write a note of appreciation to The Steak House for their hospitality in hosting the CVARC meetings through the recent years.
A list of CVARC equipment for sale to members and others is being prepared and we may have a presence at the NearFest convention in April by members attending that gathering.
Repeaters: We need to get a sense of the use of the Cabot repeater. Some irregularities were reported on the Williamstown repeater and it was noted that CVARC owns a 220 repeater given to the club by Doug Wilson’s father.
The first meeting of the Steering Committee will be held on Tuesday 15 March in the upper room of The Falls General Store located on the corner of Route 12 and Cox Brook Road in Northfield Falls. Everyone is welcome to attend and to assist in planning for the future activities of CVARC. Our thanks and appreciation to Vince KC2ISE Rooney who owns the store and has graciously made meeting space available to us.
Those attending tonight’s meeting constituted themselves as a nominating committee to present a slate of officers to the club at the Annual Meeting of CVARC on 6 April. Here is the slate as recommended by the nominating process (4 officers and 1 director):
President: Cathy James
Vice President: Fred Doten
Secretary: Allen Tinker
Treasurer: Russ Schauer
Director: Steve Board
At the Annual Meeting nominations may also be made from the floor and we hope that all members and future members and friends will attend the meeting as CVARC launches itself into a new era!
Steve Board presented a most impressive introduction to lighting protection for radio amateur equipment and premises. He discussed lighting in general and station and tower protection specifically, right down to the installation of a dwelling perimeter ground ring. Lighting is a major concern for any amateur radio operator and Steve noted that the ARRL and other organizations are good resources. You may google “ARRL Lighting protection” for a biography and list of companies specializing in equipment for the amateur.
President Steve Board thanked all who came tonight and adjourned the meeting with hope of seeing everyone next month on 6 April at the Annual Meeting.
